Desert Horizons Tutoring Services is an outreach tutoring program that focuses on schools/universities in the U.S. and abroad.  We tutor Math, Science, English, & the Humanities, (all levels), from grade 7 through university.

We are available for one-on-one tutoring or remote tutoring, including by Skype or other social media platforms for which we have a proven track record.

About Us: 

Bishara and Michele Shbat have been tutoring Middle School, High School and University students in Math, Science, English and the Humanities since 1990; including in Washington, D.C. for ten years, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for four years, and in Doha since 2004.  We are now located on the Eastern Shore of the U.S.

Bishara Shbat, who is a civil engineer and has worked as a contractor for the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area, as well as for major engineering/construction companies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and in Doha, tutors in Math and Science, (including AP and IB programs), and in Arabic.  Bishara specializes in assisting/tutoring students with ADD and ADHD, and other learning disabilities, and has had very good results.

Michele Shbat tutors English, the Humanities, and Economics (at all levels including AP and IB programs), and she is a published writer relating intercultural experiences between the Arab world and U.S./west.  (You can read her blog, “Arabian Musings,” and view her published articles at http://www.arabianmusings.wordpress.com .) Michele is also an Economist, Ph.D. (ABD), and has worked as a Finance Manager and Financial Planning Specialist in Washington, DC; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and with United Development Company and Shell-Qatar in Doha.

In addition, we provide support in preparing students for the SAT, ACT, and assistance in writing Personal Statements for college admissions.

We are currently providing “bridging services” for those students who wish to prepare for school admissions tests.
